Coach Coach Orph and the Rams will be ready for their top-25 matchup against Xavier
Rhode Island is preparing for their first AGC matchup of the season on Saturday. The Rams and the Xavier Musketeers will face off at 7:00 p.m. at Rentschler Field. The Rams will be strutting in after a win while the Musketeers will be stumbling in from a loss.
Last Saturday, Rhode Island strolled past Alabama State with points to spare, taking the game 31-17. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rams.
This one was decided up front, and Dashun Reeder and Kenji Christian were the main reasons why. Christian was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 68 yards.
Meanwhile, Xavier and Chattanooga squared off in a high-profile game last Saturday. The Musketeers fell just short of the Mocs by a score of 30-27. That's two games in a row now that the Musketeers have lost by exactly three points.
Despite their defeat, Xavier saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jordan Savage, who rushed for 106 yards and 1 TD on only 14 carries, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Caden Creel, who rushed for 19 yards and 1 touchdown.
Xavier now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Rhode Island, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
